Things to know about Katherine

Katherine Mangu-Ward’s considerable talents came to ISI’s attention early on. While an undergraduate at Yale, Katherine was editor in chief of the Yale Free Press, an independent student publication sponsored by ISI’s Collegiate Network. She also became an ISI Honors Fellow. After graduating with a BA in political science and philosophy, she was awarded a yearlong ISI fellowship at the Weekly Standard.

That experience marked the beginning of a successful career in journalism. A decade later, Katherine is managing editor of Reason magazine and has written for the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles TimesSlate, and many other publications. She recently received a Bernard L. Schwartz Fellowship from the New America Foundation, which has allowed her to investigate the rise of online learning.
