About this event
There is a strand of thought that posits the Conservative Party and conservative thought as anti-intellectual. Indeed, within the party there used to be a suspicion towards intellectuals, due to the modernist temptation of intellectuals to determine politics without a democratic mandate. Yet, there is no high-quality policy making without intellectual work invested. Since the time of Edmund Burke serious intellectual work has been done to meet the challenges that C/conservatives, and in general, Britain had to confront. This conference aims to give an overview of this work and analyse the past, present and future of British intellectual conservatism.
