Now it’s not every day that you see Peter Thiel, N. T. Wright, and Ross Douthat sitting around chatting about Christian faith, science and scientism, heaven, hope, the kingdom of God, Malthusian nightmares, utopias and dystopias, and the like.
But thanks to the Veritas Forum, you can. The Forum regularly brings together theologians and philosophers, scientists and entrepreneurs, contrarians and traditionalists to discuss issues of morality and science, faith and facts, hope and dread.
Note here how Wright, former bishop of Durham and author of The Resurrection of the Son of God, and Thiel, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, cofounder of PayPal (and founder of the Stanford Review, a CN newspaper), approach ideas about the future — and discuss how their respective communities are often demonized in the present.
The discussion is moderated by New York Times columnist Ross Douthat, author of Bad Religion: How We Became a Nation of Heretics, and, of course, an ISI alum.
