Janet E. Smith

Dr. Smith holds the Father Michael J. McGivney Chair of Life Ethics at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit. She is the author of Humanae Vitae—A Generation Later (Catholic University of America Press, 1991) and the editor of Why Humanae Vitae was Right: A Reader (Ignatius Press, 1993). She has published and spoken widely in the areas of virtue ethics, natural law ethics, and bioethics and is currently working on a study of Aquinas as a commentator on Aristotle’s ethics.
