J. Rufus Fears

Dr. Fears is the David Ross Boyd Professor of Classics at the University of Oklahoma, where he holds the G.T. and Libby Blankenship Chair in the History of Liberty. He is also Director of the Center for the History of Liberty. Professor Fears has his Ph.D. from Harvard University and has been a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome, a Guggenheim Fellow, and twice a Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The the author of one book, three monographs, three volumes of edited works, and over 70 articles and reviews on Greek and Roman history and the classical tradition, Fears has won awards for undergraduate teaching fourteen times. In 1996 and again in 1999, Professor Fears was named the University of Oklahoma Professor of the Year.
