Frank Owsley was a Southern Agrarian and an important historian of the South. He wrote State Rights in the Confederacy (University of Chicago Press, 1925), King Cotton Diplomacy: Foreign Relations of the Confederate States of America (University of Chicago Press, 1931), and Plain Folk of the Old South (LSU Press, 1949).
