Dr. Shapiro is professor of American history at Seton Hall University and the author of A Time for Healing: American Jewry Since 1945 (Johns Hopkins University Press, 1992) and Letters of Sidney Hook: Democracy, Communism, and the Cold War (M. E. Sharpe, 1995).
