Daniel Patrick Moynihan
Daniel Patrick Moynihan was a member of the United States Senate from 1977 to 2001. With a public service career extending over four decades, he served in the Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon Administrations before becoming Ambassador to India and then Ambassador to the United Nations in the 1970s. He was first elected to the United States Senate as a Democrat from New York in 1976. A former professor at Harvard University, his many books include Family and Nation (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1986), Came the Revolution (Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1988), and On the Law of Nations (Harvard University Press, 1990).
