Anne Applebaum

Anne Applebaum is the author of Gulag: A History, which won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction, and Iron Curtain, which won the 2013 Cundill Prize for Historical Literature. She is a columnist for the Washington Post and Professor of Practice at the London School of Economics. Applebaum has been writing about Eastern Europe and Russia since 1989, when she covered the collapse of communism in Poland for The Economist.
