The Dogma of Our Times
COVID-19 and a summer of social unrest have resulted in a surge of government action. Most Americans expect their leaders to rein in the chaos. Conservatives have been especially divided on the question of government intervention and how much is too much.
This is where Frank Chodorov becomes helpful.
Who He Was: Frank Chodorov (1887–1966) was a leading proponent of individualism. He also founded the Intercollegiate Studies Institute in 1953—only back then we went by the name Intercollegiate Society of Individualists.
Why He Matters: Chodorov’s thought is worth reexamining because he influenced generations of thinkers on the right, especially with his incisive critiques of statism.
What Does He Mean by “Dogma”? In this week’s Intercollegiate Review article, Chodorov examines the driving force behind statism. Is statism the means to an end? Or is it an end in itself? And how should conservatives respond to its rise?
These are challenging questions. Chodorov helps you think through them.

The Psychology of Power: How to Dethrone Tyrants
How do you respond to injustice? To abuse of power?
If you’re reading this, you’re probably skeptical of mob activism or “social justice” . . .
. . . but you also believe firmly in equality before the law and in the importance of achieving “liberty and justice for all.”
What Dethroning Tyrants Really Looks Like
The Academy of Ideas explores this conundrum beautifully by drawing on philosophy and psychology.
It’s an excellent follow-up to the Frank Chodorov piece.

C.S. Lewis on Science and Religion
When you think of C. S. Lewis, you normally think of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Abolition of Man, and maybe his sci-fi trilogy.
But did you know Lewis had rich thoughts on science and its philosophy?
In this archive pull, explore his ideas with Oxford’s Michael Ward, the “foremost living Lewis scholar” (Times Literary Supplement).
