The culture of a civilization is the art and literature through which it rises to consciousness of itself and defines its vision of the world.
– Roger Scruton

Much of contemporary art is used as a Leftist tool to indoctrinate and influence the culture, depriving it of its traditional qualities which would leave its patrons with a reminder of the three transcendentals: truth, beauty, and goodness.

What are the characteristics needed for art to be considered “good” and what can conservatives do to recognize this and reclaim the arts?

At ISI’s Art and Philosophy summer school, students will receive an introductory education into art philosophy and aesthetics and the significance of high culture. Through excursions to local museums showcasing traditional American art, creative writing workshops, and discussions about why conservatives should be involved in the art industry, students will come away with a deeper appreciation for the artist, his process, and how his work is indicative of a society’s cultural health.

Interested students can apply for an interview below. ISI covers meals and lodging for the event and will send readings on each topic ahead of time. Students will be responsible for their travel to and from ISI.
