ISI seeks a Copywriter and Email Marketer to join the Institute’s growing marketing team. This team member will serve ISI’s mission to educate for liberty by crafting and deploying compelling written content for our audience of students, faculty, program alumni, and supporters.

Founded in 1953, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) is a nonprofit organization that educates for liberty, equipping future leaders to embrace and defend the principles that make America free and prosperous. 

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with the written word, able to blend persuasive copywriting with strategic, data-driven email marketing techniques to contribute to our brand’s growth and constituent engagement.

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this is a full-time position based at ISI’s Kirby Campus headquarters, situated on a historic 20-acre estate in Wilmington, Delaware.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Copywriting: Produce high-quality, original, and persuasive written content that captures the ISI “voice” for a range of marketing materials, including but not limited to website copy, blog posts, social media content, advertisements, product descriptions, and more.
  • Email Campaigns: Develop and execute end-to-end email marketing campaigns across departments (Development, Programs, and Alumni Engagement), including conceptualization, copywriting, and scheduling, with the goal of driving audience engagement, conversions, and brand loyalty.
  • Segmentation: Collaborate with the marketing team and database staff to segment the email subscriber list effectively, tailoring content and messaging to different audience groups for maximum relevance and impact.
  • A/B Testing: Continuously refine and optimize email content, subject lines, layouts, and calls-to-action through A/B testing and data-driven insights to improve campaign performance.
  • Marketing Automation: Leverage email marketing platforms to implement drip campaigns/lead nurture sequences and other funnels across different audience segments.
  • Content Strategy: Under the guidance of the Director of Marketing, contribute to the development of the overall content strategy, ensuring consistency in tone, voice, and messaging across all marketing touchpoints.
  • Brand Alignment: Maintain a strong understanding of our brand’s values, voice, and style guidelines, ensuring that all written content aligns with the brand identity and resonates with the target audience.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze the performance metrics of email campaigns, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) such as open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, and overall engagement.
  • Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, best practices, and innovations in copywriting and email marketing to continuously enhance our strategies and approaches.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should have prior experience in copywriting, digital/email marketing, or a related field—as well as an enthusiastic commitment to and should be able to share a portfolio of engaging content. Candidates must also have experience with one or more email marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot, Pardot, MailChimp, Klaviyo, Constant Contact). An excellent command of written English is a must, as are strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

  • Experience as a Copywriter or Email Marketer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to write engaging content.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Pardot, MailChimp, HubSpot, Klaviyo).
  • Excellent command of written English
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
