Overview

ISI seeks a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to manage the Institute’s financial resources.

Reporting to the President/CEO, the Chief Financial Officer works alongside other members of the senior management team and is responsible for the overall financial health of the organization, providing day-to-day oversight of accounting operations as well as offering strategic, financial guidance on the goals and activities of the Institute.

This is a full-time position based at ISI’s F.M. Kirby Campus in Wilmington, Delaware. Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits.

Responsibilities

• Actively manage day-to-day accounting and financial operations to include accounts receivable, accounts payable, vendor management, and contracts
• Make recommendations and pro-active strategies that advance ISI’s financial well-being
• Direct the annual budget process and ongoing related reporting and forecasting to management and the ISI board
• Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for the organization
• Oversee the organization’s banking activity and manage cash flow to meet the needs of current and future activities
• Working with the board finance committee, assist in managing the Institute’s endowment and all investment accounts and activity
• Monitor accounting controls to ensure integrity and accuracy in the organization’s records and reports
• Serve as the organization’s financial representative in all dealings with the ISI board and government, public, and private entities
• Provide financial guidance to the fundraising team related to preparation of proposals and grant reporting
• Serve as liaison with auditors to ensure the annual audit is completed correctly and on time

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of public accounting, specifically nonprofit audit experience. Individuals with a certified public accountant (CPA) designation are preferred. Big Four accounting firm or for-profit CFO experience is a plus.

Additional qualifications include:

• Ability to design, review, and present financial statements and other reports using Excel and other reporting tools
• Experience with QuickBooks or similar general ledger accounting software, Concur, Bill.com or similar expense tracking platforms, and Salesforce
• Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal
• Problem-solving in a timely and effective manner
• Time management and multi-tasking
• Ability to foster relationships in the financial community that are supportive of the organization’s activities.
• Enthusiasm for ISI’s work to educate for liberty and pass on the enduring principles of Western civilization is a must.
