The Intercollegiate Studies Institute Announces Winners of the Fall 2005 Essay Contest

The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) recently announced the winners of a National Student Essay Contest on the theme:

"Order and Liberty: The Foundations of American Political Thought"

Students at all scholastic levels (high school and above) were asked to explore three of the United States' founding documents—the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Federalist Papers—and how they relate to "order and liberty." Over 175 essays were received, making it the most successful ISI essay contest to date.

This essay contest is one of the many programs sponsored each year by ISI and is made possible by the generous support of the Maibach Foundation. The Maibach Foundation was established by former Intel executive Michael C. Maibach in 2001 to advance the understanding of and appreciation for the ideals upon which the American Republic and Western Civilization have been built. The Foundation works to achieve this mission by supporting a select group of public charities committed to advancing the American Idea.

Founded in 1953, ISI works "to educate for liberty"—to identify the best and brightest college students and nurture in these future leaders the American ideal of ordered liberty. If you would like more information on ISI, or about this essay contest, please visit www.isi.org.
